About the owners
Owners Ed and Bonnie Doczy decided to
franchise this Center in the fall of 2000 while doing extensive research for a
state-of-the-art childcare facility to become part of the Marketplace at
Settlers.
What impressed them most was not merely the building design and equipment, but
that Kids 'R' Kids focus is on family ownership and participation. Their goal is
to provide a nurturing environment where children may develop their own sense of
self enabling them to better identify with the world and how they fit in it.
Ed's strong ties to the community are rooted in his prior position as City
Manager, which he resigned in the spring of 2000 to become self-employed. With
over 20 years of management experience, a Masters Degree in Business
Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, and various professional
experiences including teaching Urban Planning at Wright State University as
Adjunct Professor (not to mention a love of children), place him strategically
in the spot he inadvertently aimed for all his life.
Bonnie has a 15-year background in pension administration which began at a small
actuarial firm and progressed to the corporate offices of Emerson Electric and
Jefferson Smurfit. In more recent years, taking care of her own family has given
her the opportunity to expand her life long interests of philosophy and writing.
Ed and Bonnie have three children of their own whom they are extremely proud of:
Samantha, who is aged 14 and attends Springboro Junior High, is full of sparkle
and fun and believes there is no such thing as having too many pets. Jordan, who
is aged 24 and a web designer in Columbus, Ohio. He fills his off hours as DJ of
continuous House Music in clubs throughout Columbus. Jordan's web design can be
found online at
www.jmdoczy.com. Larissa, who is aged 34 and lives in St. Louis, is a
musician and artist par excellance. She has her own unique style which she
refuses to compromise for the sake of appealing to the popular. Going by the
stage name Larissa Dalle, you can find out more by visiting
www.larissadalle.com.
When they're not on-site hugging your children, Ed and Bonnie can be found at
home, out in their garage carving wood spirits and cutting glass for Tiffany
lamps.
